Advertising and Commercial Art
This is a program in the applied visual arts that prepares individuals to use artistic techniques to effectively communicate ideas and information to business and consumer audiences via illustrations and other forms of digital or printed media.
Students will also explore the problems of observation (i.e., learning to see), basic drawing techniques (i.e., learning to use art media – ink, pencil, pen, etc.) and composition (i.e., learning to arrange objects on paper). Particular attention and time will be spent exploring commercial art. This includes, but is not limited to, graphic design, illustration, typography, and copyright issues.
